1965 SHELBY GT350 FASTBACK #S433
This 1965 Shelby GT350 Fastback #S433 is a story of a lost car resurrected. Well known in the Shelby world, it is powered by a complete and correct matching numbers drivetrain including engine, transmission and rear end. The car and  drivetrain was offered for sale in Maine in the early 1980’s.  During the sale, it was discovered that the original body was rusty in places so a rust-free single exhaust body was used for some of its panels during a comprehensive restoration. As one of 560 produced for the model year and is in the Shelby registry. During the restoration the underside was completed factory red oxide paint along with 350 competition side stripes. It was last painted in 1987. Powered by and an original Shelby America-prepped 289ci OHV Cobra V8 engine equipped with a high-riser aluminum manifold, center pivot float 4-barrel carburetor and special-designed hand-built tubular-tuned exhaust system.  The engine has thin Cobra aluminum valve covers, extra-capacity fin and baffled aluminum oil pan.  The engine is paired with a fully synchronized BorgWarner special Sebring close-ratio 4-speed transmission with lightweight all-alloy case. It rides on a Shelby computer-designed competition suspension and 1-inch-diameter front anti-roll bar with fully stabilized torque-controlled rear axle equipped with no-spin limited-slip differential. Stopping power is the courtesy of Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes with ventilated disc and special-flow competition pads and wide rear drum brakes with metallic linings. It is equipped with a lightweight fiberglass hood with an integrally designed functional air scoop. This Shelby retains original interior components, and is signed by Carroll Shelby  Rides on Shelby/Cragar five-spoke wheels with new reproduction Goodyear blue dot tires, along with a factory spare rim and bias-ply 15-inch tire with spare wheel cover. The all-black interior has bucket-type seats and Shelby-approved competition seatbelts, along with a special instrument cluster with tachometer and oil-pressure gauge, speedometer, fuel gauge and water temperature gauge. Additional interior features include two-speed electric windshield wipers, wood trim, a Shelby Racing steering wheel with quick-ratio steering and a heater. Shelby America received this GT350 on June 5, 1965, with work beginning on June 11, 1965, and was finished June 21, 1965, and then assigned to Tasca Ford Sales Inc. The sale of this Shelby includes Shelby Registry photo car No. 433, original owner's manuals and 1965 Shelby Magazine articles. 50,967 miles.
