HISTORY:

Original owner documentation shows car first purchased new from Buchanan Chevrolet, Spokane Washington on February 1, 1964.

Later brought to Calgary, Alberta. It was purchased by my father-in-law from the second owner in approximately 1990. He did not drive it and it was stored in a garage for 10 years.

I purchased the car from him in 2000. Changed the oil and got the car running. Engine ran well but had a tapping sound – almost like lifter noise. That combined with the index mark movement on the harmonic balancer indicating high-time engine, I decided to remove the entire drive train for overhaul and restoration.

Upon engine removal, I found that the recently installed new clutch and pressure plate had not been torqued down properly, causing bolts to back out and rub on the bell-housing causing the tap-tap sound.

In 2004 I moved out of the city and stored the car in my workshop. In 2005 realizing I had no time to complete the project I put the car on blocks, removing interior carpets and door panels so as to treat areas profusely with “fluid film”. (Over 2 dozen cans used on the entire car.) There are no missing parts or pieces.

The Corvair has been in windowless storage since 1990. In 2018, I purchased the 2013 Mirage Cargo Trailer. It is 20’ 6” X 8’ 5”. Model M8.520TA4 with plywood interior. GVWR / PNBV 5443 kg (12,000 lbs). In the last few years, the car has been in the cargo trailer with a ventilation fan used.

Note that the car previously had a Spyder dash installed, but it is not a Spyder. It is a 2 carb, 110 horsepower Monza with 4 speed manual transmission.
