The story of the COPO (Central Office Production Order) Camarois well known among muscle car enthusiasts. The ability to order specially equipped high-performance cars, unknown to the general public, was a loophole around the rules of GM. A special and history famous engine that made the average iron block 427 Camaro look an everyday occurrence is COPO option code 9560, or ZL1 as it's better known. With only 69 factory examples produced all together, ZL1's are the rarest, and the baddest Camaros ever built. They had an all-aluminum (block and heads) 427/430hp cubic inch motor which was severely underrated and actually more in the 600hp range, and they were light, which made them fast. Really Fast! With only professional racers in mind, the cost of this optional drivetrain was an astronomical $4,160 back in the 60s, which alone was more money than the entire price of the base model V8 Camaro!

This very special factory born real X55 Super Sport Camaro was rotisserie restored and upon that period it was fortunate enough to be one of the privileged recipients of one of the new all-aluminum monster factory GM limited edition ZL-1 engines that is DYNO ported/polished/balanced/blueprinted factory brand new in the crate! The engine is factory engraved serial #236 of only 427 ever produced, and comes with a certificate plaque of authenticity from General Motors. This engine alone, if even fortunate enough to locate one available for sale is valued today well in excess of $80-$100k USD with driveline accesories and like the cars, the engines also will only appreciate in the future years. Furthermore, during restoration, MSD electronic ignition and a modern FAST fuel injection system with programmer was added along with a TREMAC 6-speed transmission and 3.90 posi-traction 12-bolt rear end, making this stud an ease and pleasure to operate anywhere/anytime trouble free. So confident and unquestionably the greatest big block Chevrolet engine ever campaingned in history, GM even offered a 50,000 mile warranty with this engine! Additional factory options also included on its checklist are power steering, power disc brakes, bucket seats, tinted glass, radio, gauges, raised cowl hood, 3 dual exhaust, custom wheels or SS factory wheels w/BFG radials and much, much more.

Again, not to be confused with your common average "iron block" 427ci, theZL-1
