#791 IN THE NASCAR SUPERBIRD REGISTRY
The final volley in the battle of muscle car aerodynamics was the 70 Superbird. With 7.0 liter engine limit, competing automakers turned to wind cheating body designs, like the "Winged Warriors" 69 Daytona, and the 70 Superbird!
Designed for NASCAR super-speedways, these Mopars both featured a peaked noise and a rear deck airfoil mounted on struts. NASCAR 1969 rules called for 500 copied of the model to be produced to make it race legal. For 1970 it was one race car per dealer, experts believe 1971 Superbirds were built.
The most popular engine was the 440 CID Super Cammando V8 with a 4BBL Carb, a total of 1120 Superbirds cam this way. Another 716 were equipped with the 440 6 Pack Option, 135 were Hemi Birds (77 Auto - 58 4 Speeds)
