A truly rare and historically significant piece of office history! This is an antique Sun Standard Typewriter No. 2, a visually striking machine complete with its original fitted leather carrying case. This model was produced around the turn of the century (c. 1899–1901) and represents a unique design in early typing machines.

KEY COLLECTOR DETAILS:
• Model: Sun Standard Typewriter No. 2.
• Design: Features an iconic, compact index-style mechanism—it is not a typical QWERTY keyboard machine. The machine uses a rotary index and a pointer to select letters, making it a distinct and desirable curiosity for collectors.
• Aesthetics: The machine features black enamelled metal with classic gold/yellow keys and a distinctive circular logo detail. It is an excellent piece for industrial, antique, or writer-themed decor.
• Carrying Case: Includes the Original Fitted Leather Carrying Case with a leather handle. The case adds significant value and protection to this rare machine.

CONDITION & AGE:
Mechanical Condition: The typewriter is being sold as found and has not been tested for full operational function. The keys, index mechanism, and carriage appear to be present but may require cleaning, restoration, and repair to be functional.
Cosmetic Condition: The metal casing shows a lovely, dark patina consistent with its age (over 120 years). The original finish remains largely intact.
Case Condition: The leather case shows heavy wear, dust, and signs of age (as shown in photos). The interior lining is worn/damaged, but the case is structurally sound and essential for the piece's history.
Part of a large, well-maintained private collection of antiques and memorabilia.
